Children’s dentistry
At Kalo Dental we believe all children should see a dentist by the time they're 2-3 years of age. Looking for a paediatric dentist in Kogarah?
Dr Peter’s first qualification was as an Oral Health Therapist primarily treating children. He knows the importance of a positive start from a young age which is why he is passionate about working closely with a child’s family to introduce their child positively to the dental setting and making them familiar with what goes on under Dr Peter’s care. Treatment is provided according to the child’s understanding and age.
Why it matters?
An appointment for children’s oral care is one of the most valuable and unique health visits in a child’s early development. Today we can identify very early on in the picture, any hidden whole-body issues/diseases that present in the mouth or via other oral cavity side effects. Potential and obvious dental problems, dentofacial deformities, orthodontic crowding, sinus and ear infections, breathing and airway issues, sleep apnoea, hormone deficiencies, reduced IQ, heart disease and so much more have tale-tell signs that present in the mouth, which is why accustoming your child to a kid-friendly dental check-up at an early age is so crucial.
What to expect:
A friendly introduction
We’ll get to know your child and get up to speed on any relevant medical information. We’ll also gently introduce them to the dental setting in a non-intimidating way.
Examination
Here we’ll check inside the mouth and out (looking for any signs of decay, gum disease, lumps, bumps or growth, cracks, cavities, potential conditions that may flare undiagnosed issues).
Oral hygiene routine advice
By tailoring our language and communication to suit the age of your child, we’ll help them be aware of how to daily care for their teeth. Plus depending on their age, they’ll get a polish and clean in-house!
Assess growth/orthodontic needs
We put a particular focus on assessing the tooth development of your child and ensure we get onto any structural issues early on.
